Sync with Google Calendar

Subscribe to a private iCal feed so bookings show up automatically in your calendar app.

What the calendar feed does

Slotwise gives you a private iCal feed: a web address your calendar app can subscribe to, so bookings show up automatically in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook. There are two kinds of feed:

  • Business feed: one URL covering every booking across your whole business.
  • Team member feed: one URL per person, showing only that person's own bookings.

This means a team member can subscribe to their own feed and see just their schedule on their phone, without seeing anyone else's appointments. If you'd rather send booking data straight into your own systems in real time, see Webhooks for developers.

Find your feed URL

  1. Go to https://www.slotwise.skotechlabs.com/app/integrations.
  2. Open Calendar sync.
  3. Copy the Business feed URL, or the feed URL next to the team member you want to set up.

Tip Set the business feed up on a shared office calendar or reception computer, and let each team member add their own feed to their personal phone — that way everyone sees exactly what they need, and nothing more.

Add the feed to your calendar

Google Calendar

  1. Open Google Calendar on the web.
  2. Next to Other calendars, click +, then From URL.
  3. Paste the feed URL and click Add calendar.

Apple Calendar

  1. Open the Calendar app.
  2. Go to File → New Calendar Subscription (on iPhone or iPad: Settings → Calendar → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar).
  3. Paste the feed URL and confirm.

Outlook

  1. Open Outlook, on the web or on the desktop.
  2. Go to Add calendar → Subscribe from web (sometimes labelled From internet).
  3. Paste the feed URL and save.

Tip Rename the calendar once it's added — something like "Salon bookings" — so it's easy to tell apart from your personal events at a glance.

What to expect

The feed refreshes every few hours, so it isn't instant — a booking made a minute ago won't appear right away. It's also read-only: you can see appointments in your personal calendar, but you can't edit, move, or cancel one from there. Make changes in Slotwise itself and they'll appear in the feed on the next refresh.

Tip Because the feed isn't instant, check the Slotwise console directly if you need to know about a booking made in the last hour or two.

If a feed URL is ever shared somewhere it shouldn't be — a lost phone, a forwarded email — you're not stuck with it.

  1. Go to https://www.slotwise.skotechlabs.com/app/integrations and open Calendar sync.
  2. Next to the feed you want to change, click Reset links.

This regenerates that feed's URL. Every calendar that subscribed using the old URL stops updating, so you — and anyone else using that feed — will need to add the new URL to your calendar app again.

Tip Reset only the specific feed that leaked. The business feed and each team member's feed are separate, so resetting one doesn't disturb anyone else's calendar sync.
