Classes and group sessions

Turn any service into a class or group session that several customers can book into the same time slot.

One-on-one or group

Every service has a Capacity setting. At 1, it behaves like a normal appointment — one customer, one time slot. Set it higher and the service becomes a class or group session: several customers can book into the same time slot until the seats run out.

This suits anything you run as a group rather than one customer at a time — a fitness class, a group tutoring session, a workshop, a group tour. The service still has one duration, one price, and one team member (or "Any available") like any other service; the only difference is how many customers can share the time.

Max seats per booking

Alongside Capacity, set max seats per booking — the most seats a single customer can claim in one booking. This lets someone book for themselves and a friend in one go, without letting one customer take up the whole class by accident.

For example, a yoga class with capacity 12 and a max of 2 seats per booking lets each customer bring at most one guest, while still leaving room for six separate bookings to fill the class.

What customers see

On the booking page, a class shows the number of seats left alongside each time, so customers can see at a glance how full it is. Once a time slot's seats are all taken, it stops being offered as an option.

If every remaining time on a given day is full, customers see Join the waitlist instead, the same as on any fully booked day — see "The waitlist" for how that works.

Turn a service into a class

  1. Go to https://www.slotwise.skotechlabs.com/app/services and open the service, or create a new one.
  2. Find the Capacity field and set it to the number of customers who can book the same time slot — for example, 12 for a fitness class or 6 for a group tutoring session.
  3. Set max seats per booking to the most seats one customer can take at once.
  4. Review the service's duration, price, and team members — these apply to the class as a whole, the same as for a one-on-one service.
  5. Click Save.

Tip Keep max seats per booking low, often 1 or 2, for popular classes, so a single booking can't unintentionally fill most of the available seats.

Tip Use the Calendar to check how full an upcoming class or group session is at a glance — it shows seats left by team member.

Tip For a workshop or course that only makes sense as a group, set the capacity well above 1 from the start rather than launching it as a one-on-one service and changing it later.

Tip If a class regularly sells out, that's a sign to add another time slot rather than raising the capacity past what the space or team member can comfortably handle.
